He's long said that he's wanted to see a "Diablo 1.5" that would retain the core gameplay of the original while adding select QoL improvements from the sequel. My dad is a HUGE Diablo nut, and he's logged thousands of hours in both D1 and D2. When I was younger, I even preferred D2 to D1. In many players eyes, it did "advance", and I can totally see why they'd see it that way. The genre certainly changed into something different. PC is definitely preferred, but I'll take mobile if it's my only option. I don't own any modern consoles, but I have a decent PC as well as a decent-ish Android phone. Real-time gameplay and multiplayer options would be nice to have, but they're not essential for me. I don't mind games that are turn-based or lack multiplayer. I feel like the simplest answer to my question would be to just keep playing Diablo, which I would like to do, except that its UI is clunky as all hell. I am also not looking for roguelikes, even though some of them are similar to what I'm looking for, because I'm not a fan of permadeath mechanics. ![]() What I am not looking for are games similar to Diablo II, which take a more action-based approach with more freeform movement. I'm wondering if there are any games out there that have a similar feel to the original Diablo, by which I mean randomly generated dungeons, slow, methodical tile-based movement, loot with random or semi-random stats, and RPG character customization/progression.
